A new school year is vastly approaching here in the North Country. At Dannemora Federal Credit Union, we understand the excitement and the difficulties that come with the start of a new academic year.
Saving money on school supplies is something we all have in common. According to the National Retail Federation, in 2023, families with children in kindergarten-12th grade spent an average of over $890 on school supplies, clothes, shoes, and electronics. With the cost of living and current inflation, that amount of money could cause strain on many families in our community.
We want to help! With our Back-to-School Loan, you can make sure your expenses are covered so you can focus on your kiddos’ academics without stressing about how to pay for it.
What is a Back-to-School Loan?
A Back-to-School Loan is a type of personal loan that helps you cover costs for your educational needs. (For example: school supplies, clothes, and/or books.) Additionally, teachers could also benefit from a Back-to-School Loan by using the funds to purchase what they need for their classroom.
Why should I get a Back-to-School Loan?
To help cover expenses related to returning to school. It is easy to apply for, can be paid off in monthly installments, and can offer lower rates than traditional bank loans or credit cards.
Why apply at a credit union vs. a bank?
Credit Unions and banks may offer similar services and products, but in reality, they are very different. Credit unions, like DFCU, are not-for-profit financial institutions that work to serve their members, unlike banks, who make profits for their shareholders. As a not-for-profit organization, credit union earnings directly benefit their members in the form of higher savings rates, better loan rates, fewer fees and other services.
Our loan department team at DFCU is dedicated to helping our members, especially in a time of need. We have the experience, resources and compassion to get your family ready for the school year.
