DFCU Shines the Spotlight on Local Small Businesses

Small Business Saturday is among us and here at DFCU we have some awesome members who trust DFCU to help with their local businesses. With everyone’s permission, there are a few that we would like to shine the spotlight on.

LA BELLE SALON

“Being a beautician has always been my passion as far back as I can remember.” Owner, Kathleen Peryea reflects. “I knew that this would be one guaranteed way that I could brighten up anyone’s day and make them feel wonderful about themselves.”

After many years of searching, La Belle Salon opened at 396 Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh, in June of 2019 as a beauty salon with only two stylists.  Kathleen has since expanded into a full-service spa in 2021, with a staff of 10 who hold over 100 years of combined experience.

“We take pride in our passion for self-care and creating a welcoming environment for our clients.” Peryea notes, “Our staff always tries to be one step ahead, staying current in all things beauty and body.”

La Belle Salon & Spa offers unisex haircuts, colors, updos, perms, massage, reiki, microblading and all things esthetics!

VALCOUR BREWING CO.

Originally built in 1838 as an army barracks, Valcour Brewing Co continues to be one of the North Country’s most precious historic gems.

Mary T. Pearl and Terry Schamltz had a dream to open a brewery in our community after they both retired as Colonels in the US Army. The original plan was to make headway on a plot of land in Peru, but then the Old Stone Barracks was available for purchase in 2014.

After a hefty renovation, including removing 20 tons of unsalvageable wood and 10 tons of cast iron, Valcour Brewing Co was born.

Valcour Brewing Co offers exceptional craft brew, locally sourced fare, an event space and an inn. Located at 49 Ohio Drive, Plattsburgh, visit www.valcourbrewingcompany.com for more information.
