The Credit Union Difference

Credit unions, like DFCU, stand out from traditional banks because of our commitment to our members and our community. Members share a common bond, also known as “Field of Membership”. For example, DFCU’s Field of Membership is anyone who lives, works, or worships in Clinton, Essex, Franklin or St. Lawrence Counties.
Credit Unions are not-for-profit financial institutions that are 100% member owned. Unlike profit driven banks, credit unions have a unique advantage, they operate by prioritizing the well-being of their members. Profits made by credit unions are returned to members in the form of reduced fees, higher savings rates, and lower loan rates.
